Import Books TAB file
Part A : Export Books TAB File with Microsoft™ Excel or OpenOffice.org™ :
- Start OpenOffice.org
- Create a new Excel file and enter the following fields, one per column : title, subtitle, author_firstname, author_lastname, category, publisher, publication_year, supplier, condition, language, pages, isbn, binding, quantity, cost, selling_price, summary, imagelink1 (the first row must have these field names)
- On each row, enter the column data
- Select from Menu : File > Save As
- Select Save as type : Text CSV (.csv)
- In the Save As window : enter a new File name, tick the checkbox Edit filter settings and press the Save button
- The Export of text files window opens : select {Tab} in the Field delimiter and delete the delimiter in Text delimiter text box with the backspace key
- Press the Ok button
Part B : Import Books TAB File with Auction Data Wizard:
- Click on the Inventory menu and then click Books
- Click on the Import button and a dialog window opens
- Select the TAB file and click on the Open button
- Click on Import Records
- The imported records are displayed in the Books table
Import AbeBooks TAB file
Part A : Export AbeBooks TAB File with HomeBase:
- Start HomeBase
- Click on Listings tab
- Select Item(s) (the row(s) selected are highlighted)
- Select File and the Export from the main menu
- The Export Wizard window is opened. Select Listings and click on next button
- Select All, Changes since or From catalog and click on next button
- The Select Export Format window is opened. Select Tab Delimited File and click on next button
- The Save As dialog window is opened. Select the Save in: folder and enter
the TAB filename in the File name textbox
- Click the Save button
For HomeBase 2.3 the Tab delimited must have the following fields : BookNumber, Author, Title, Illustrator, Publisher, AskingPrice, Status, BookCondition, Size, JacketCondition, Binding, BookType, ISBN, PublishPlace, PublishYear, Edition, Inscription, Keywords, Notes, PrivateComment, PurchasePrice, Location, DateAdded, DateUpdated, UpdatedBy, InvoiceId, BookId
You can also add an extra field for the book's image url by editing the Tab delimited file. - The Text Import Window opens : In the Separator Options section : select Separated by, tick the Comma checkbox only and select double quote for Text delimiter
- Press the Ok button
- Select from Menu : File > Save As
- Select Save as type : Text CSV (.csv)
- Press Save button
- The Export of Text Files window displays (running OpenOffice.org)
- Select {Tab} for Field Delimiter
- Press OK button
